You can get gingivitis from someone if the  one of the following happens between you nd the person with the gingivitis infection.
A gingivitis or  bleeding  and  swollen gum  is the a dental infection that occur a a result of accumulation and building up of bacteria I the mouth. Therefore some one has a  gum disease there I no doubt that the has a plentiful of bacteria in his mouth, therefore if you do one of the following you will definitely have  gingivitis.
Kissing : when you kiss someone suffering from bleeding gum and the  there is an exchange of saliva between you and the passing there is 100% possibilities  that periodontal or gingivitis causing bacteria has been transferred between you and the person, a person suffering from gum bleeding or swollen gum has bacteria in his saliva and anything that can transfer this saliva t your house can no  doubt transfer those bacteria.

Using the same toothbrush : if you are the same toothbrush with a passing suffering from gingivitis, there is no doubt that  you will also be sharing bacteria, teeth brushing help reduce bacteria but do not clear them all, therefore when you use the same toothbrush a gingivitis patient use , you will have high possibility of having gingivitis.
